Govt. Declares BBSR And Rourkela as Smart City, Full List of 98 Smart Cities Of India

Union Urban Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu declared that Our Odisha's Capital -- Bhubaneswar and Rourkela along with 96 other cities as Smart Cities.

What is Smart City?

A city equipped with basic infrastructure to give a decent quality of life, a clean and sustainable environment through -- application of some smart solutions. After government announces the guidelines, states will be asked to nominate names of cities for a ‘City Challenge Competition’ and the chosen ones will get Central fund of Rs 100 crore each year for 5 years.

Uttar Pradesh, with 13 cities, leads the states in number of smart cities. Here is the list of smart cities released by the government today:
